Indy 500 Lay Out 1

I had that privilege of going to the Indy 500 this year with a wonderful group of girls called the Marcoteers. I have been so blessed to meet these girls and to call them my friends.

The experience itself was truly a once in a live time event. I made so many memories and I can't wait to share them with you. So I'm going to start posting the LO's I have done so far.

My scrap book is 8 1/2 by 11 inches. This lay out I decided to just leave it plain. I wanted the picture to be the main focus. This is some of the Marcoteers behind Marco and Micheal's motor homes.

I've been blessed to have several women in my life that have made me who I am today. My family took the saying it takes a Village to raise a child and put it to good use. Everyone in my extended family had a hand in how I grew up and who I am today.

My Grandmother used to tell me stories when I was a child. She would tell me about how things were for her growing up, what my Dad and my Aunts and Uncles would do when they were kids. She gave me so many life lessons that I didn't even realize were lessons. She was firm but she loved me and I never once doubted that and I still don't doubt that now. I miss her dearly, she passed away in 1998 but her stories and lessons are as clear today as they were when I was a child.

My Aunt Phyllis was so much more than just an Aunt. She is my God-Mother and she instilled the love of History in me. She would take time and take me to all the Historical sites around and that is no easy feat especially considering I was 5 the first time she took me. As a child she gave me the love for History and as a teenager she gave me the lessons that helped to for me into an Adult. She would sit up late into the night and just talk. She would give me advice and teach me so much but she always left the decisions up to me. She taught me that decisions have consequences but sometimes they are worth it. Sadly My Aunt passed away on Valentine's Day 2 years ago.

The final woman that I've decided to include is my Mom. Not only did she give me life, she's been my best friend for all of my 27 years on earth. She taught me that no matter what I do, no matter what mistakes I make (and I've made several) that she would always be there to catch me when I fall. She was the cool Mom when I was a teen, but she knew when to step up and be Mom and when to be my friend. She was always there to listen and a shoulder to cry on. She is one of those people you can be with and just be, we don't have to talk all the time, we just kind of know what the other is thinking. She hasn't let a day go by that she hasn't told me she loves me, even when we aren't together. She is the one I made my card for.

My Card base is cream card stock cut at 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 inches. The patterned paper is DCWV La Creme and The Whimsy Stack. Along with Black paper cut at 4 by 5 1/4 inches.

The La Creme paper was cut at 2 by 3 3/4 inches and the Whimsy paper was cut at 3 by 3 3/4 inches. I matted them on the black card stock.

I added the strip of Whimsy paper that I tinted with Tim Holtz Distress ink to cover my seam.

I stamped both my sentiment and the heart from the Dawna Houser InkadinkaDo stamp set in StazOn Fuscia Pink. I added some liquid pearls to the sentiment.
